PROFESSIONAL MARINE LOGISTICS EXPERIENCE
2018- Present: Full Time Marine Surveyor and Insurance Damage Claims Specialist
After being accepted into the SAMS organization Mark transitioned from years of part time to full time marine surveying. Surveys focus on Condition and Value, Pre-purchase and Insurance surveys for vessels of all sizes and construction with a high volume of luxury yachts from 60'-100'. Damage claims include expertise in Failure Analysis, Root Cause and replacement cost using Six Sigma (Green Belt) methodology.
2001- Present: Captain for Hire / Yacht Delivery / Part Time Surveyor / Substitute Custodian for Vessel Arrest
Captain for hire on owners’ vessels for private excursions or deliveries. Marks long range yacht deliveries have included transfers from Lake Michigan to Florida’s East Coast via Mississippi River, Tombigbee Waterway and Gulf of Mexico navigating 27 Army Corps waterway locks systems including the Paducah dam. Various local transfers have included deliveries, departures to safe harbor during hurricane evacuations, crossings on Lake Okeechobee waterways and the Bahamas Islands. Mark works with US Marshals serving as a court appointed Substitute Custodian Captain to secure and care for yachts under Federal court jurisdiction and Vessel Arrest. Primary responsibilities included care and maintenance for yachts over an extended period, vessel surveys, damage evaluations, transit and repair recommendations.

Mark is the online forum administrator and moderator with more than 80,000 members. Marks covers all marine product manufacturers, boating repair forums, regional and tropical fishing forums and writes feature articles and technical product reviews for the print magazine.
2001-2008 Phantom Charters, Inc
Mark owned and operated a commercial offshore charter fishing business out of Cape Marina, Port Canaveral, aboard his 1985 Luhrs 342 twin Detroit diesel convertible F/V. During this tenure Mark refurbished his Luhrs and then restored his 1991 Jupiter 31’ CC while working as a field applications expert for Lowrance and beta testing networked electronics including dual touchscreen MFD, Open array radar and all LowranceNET widgets with Evinrude Etec power with EMM across NMEA 2000 plug and play network.
1997-2000: Captain / Mate
Mark earned his 100 Ton Masters Merchant Mariner credentials piloting the Mad Dog IV a 105’ aluminum hull M/Y during the summer months navigating from Key West to the Dry Tortugas and Gulf of Mexico.
